Download V8, V10, and V16

Not sure if these are the full versions of the game though, since they're a little small. I also tried Grapholic on V16 but it didn't seem to work very well. o_O

I downloaded all the V8 files...how do I play the game? I clicked on the sgs, etc. but nothing works. All files are in the same folder. Also,  I have windows XP, is that a problem?

Based on the file sizes, they look like full games, sans CD audio (and I've never seen them online with the CDDA)

As I understand it V8 only works when burned to CD.  I seem to remember V6 and V10 can work from hard drive using the GTS loader, but there's something funny about V8.

Never seen any of the SGS-based VIPER games require jap mode myself.  The SGS engine has its own character bitmap, so you shouldn't need jap regional mode to display the text properly.
You would need jap mode for the Director-based games, Islands and GT1, though in order to process the Shift-JIS text properly.

Well I got V16 to work no problem. However, the other two Viper games wont work. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

NVM I figured it out. I had to swap some files over from V16 to get them to work.

The Princess Maker game I downloaded from there ended up being the Chinese version.

Fuck fuckity fuck fuck.

If anyone knows remembers where to get the English version of Princess Maker 1, give me a holler. O_o

Ive had V8 for quite awile now, but have never been able to play it... when i click on the SGS or the icon, i get an error message... i think it says it is not a valid WIN32 application...how can i run it?

Why, with the Shinobu cheat I'm guessing!

Since the game was originally designed to run off a CD, you could burn it to a CD, or use the Shinobu run parameter when you play it.

Make a shortcut for the game. (right click on the game you want to play's SGS.exe file, and select either "Create Shortcut")

Then, right-click on the new shortcut, and choose "Properties". On this menu, click on the "Shortcut" tab. Under the "Target" field, you should see something that reads like this:

"C:\Documents and Settings\Riot\Desktop\V6\SGS.EXE"

You need to add a space, and the name "Shinobu" (without quotes, case-sensitive) after that line so that it reads like this:

"C:\Documents and Settings\Riot\Desktop\V6\SGS.EXE" Shinobu

Again, make sure that the "S" is capitalized or it won't work.

Then, double click on the shortcut and the game should work normally.  I haven't tested each Viper game, but I think V6-16 runs using the Shinobu cheat.

Shinobu was a member of Sogna staff, and their name appears in the credits to some of the games.  I guessing the parameter was orginally used for play testing.

No, it actually is v10. It just says CTR on the start-up exe.

I was only able to get v10 to work by replacing the sgs.exe file with one from another viper game. Then it worked fine for me.

Viper v10 seems to work with the SGS.exe from Viper v16 plus the Shinobu target modification.
