Title: V12 (help)
Post by: Asukachan on March 20, 2006, 06:31:29 pm
ive had this game for awile but i have never been able to get past the first scene on the Magical Gambler story without the game freezing. I was wondering if anyone knows a way to fix that or if anyone has any saved games for it.

I think its a bug when playing it in W2K, becuase I get the same problem, but didn't use to.

I had the same problem. Set the compatibility settings to Windows 95 and that should fix it.

How do I do that?

I think he means, go to the .exe

Right click -> Properties tab -> Compatibility mode section -> Check "Run this mode in compatibility mode for..." and then select Win 95 from the drop-down menu.

I'm 90% sure that's what he means.

I got the same thing, and what's more, when I came across a similar bug in Viper M1 at the start of the scene with the red-haired girl and the blue-haired girl, I found that if you rapidly click on the assigned button on your taskbar that it'll scroll thru it.

It might take a few tries though...

Hmm... Win2k... yeah, I think it's a bit more complicated on that OS.

Here, try this link: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;279792

Tell me how it works out.

A neat trick, but alas it doesn't work for V12.  Even if you bypass the V12 launcher by running SGS.EXE with its keyword (ie, "SGS.EXE Shinobu" for V12), and set up compatibilty mode on your SGS.EXE shortcut it doesn't seem to get any further past the bug in Magical Gambler Totocal Chomi.

I found another trick that works though. Use V16 International version's SGS.EXE (http://www.jonathandgriffith.com/files/forum/v12hack.zip) instead. Of course, you'll have to copy the V16.bat file too, becuase the SGS keyword for the Int'l version is Rghmnat instead of Shinobu.
Seems to work nearly flawlessly though.  Chomi's mouth doesn't move with her face during her first pachinko playing experience and sometimes the previous lines of text don't clear away, but it's otherwise completely playable. Saves even work.

So get to it! Parallel Serial Hi-res Pixel!!

I dont quite follow....assigned button on your taskbar??

at the bottom of my screen I've got the talkbar that shows what programs I've got running, and if I'm playing one of those games and it gets a part that I know has a glitch, I move the mouse to the games assigned button and press Enter, then I click on the button with my mouse as fast as I can to Minimize and Bring Up the game Over and Over.

.....HEY, It works! I just had to come up with something besides a complicated program.  My computer Knowledge is purely Clinical (I know what does what offhand, but I don't have any experience with the inner workings of my comp.)

And when I think of margarine substitute, I think of Fabio!
