MONSTER: A fighting game with furries
« on: April 01, 2007, 10:07:26 pm »
My question to you good sirs and, by some miracle, madames, is, would you play a fighting game if the cast was mostly furry???

Check it out, MONSTER Online:

Download here: http://files.filefront.com/MONSTERzip/;6609330;;/fileinfo.html

Get update patches here (you only need the latest one which is currently 1.01): http://members.jcom.home.ne.jp/8105/

If any of you are willing to play, hit me up on AIM (Orochi K Prime) or go to #8105monster @ EFnet on IRC. There, you'll hopefully find people willing to play and help you get better.

Game info:
Controls
A - weak
B - medium
C - strong
S - shift
ff - forward dash/run
bb - backdash
uu,uuf,uub,etc - double jump
f+C - throw

Each character has 3 modes to choose from: Monster, Tranquility, and Freedom.
Monster - power is greatly increased but a lot of times, special move speed is decreased.
Tranquility - a balance between Freedom and Monster. Tranquility gives certain moves special properties (such as autoguard, or can make some moves feints).
Freedom - custom combo mode. Allows you to cancel most special moves instantly.

Point System
Each hit in a successful combo will add a point to your point counter. Additionally, each successful hit blocked will add a point to your point counter. Whenever two characters trade hits (even when one hits a projectile) that aren't weak hits (IIRC), the one with the lower point count will become "power broken" which holds you in the air, defying the game's gravity, for the as long as your point counter says or until you finally reach the ground.

Shift/Burst
When you press shift in between attacks, you can "burst" out of a combo, similar to the Guilty Gear series. Each time you shift into whichever mode you chose before the fight, you gain one stock with the ability to have up to three stocks max. Once you have three stocks and a full shift meter refilled (which refills over time after each use), you can use an Absurd move which is just how it sounds, absurd. Each character has one and they're all usually very good moves to help guarantee a victory or to get out of a desperate situation. And one last note, each character has two forms of supers. Those which can be chained up to three times together, or those that have strength according to however many stocks you currently hold.

That's pretty much all there is. Play this game, love this game, need this game.

Well, Bloody Roar is pretty cool.  Does that count?
