I'm sorry guys, but reading my game informer on the returning characters tells me nothing regarding our friend Captain Falcon.

Probably because F-Zero has been one of the worst managed game franchises of the last few years.  The original was the definitive Mode 7 platform and the series peaked with X.  Maximum Velocity was meh, AX failed in the arcades, GX's story mode was impossibly hard for most players, and GP Legend might be the worst GBA game ever designed.  Add in a Saturday morning cartoon that failed miserably and you can see how the F-Zero series has spiraled into the ground over the last 6 or 7 years.

Of course, by that same logic Fox shouldn't be in Brawl either, but he is.  (Granted, SF:Command really isn't that bad, but it hardly makes up for Dinosaur Planet or Assault)

If Samurai Goro is in the game as an Assist Trophy and there is a F-Zero icon, then Captain Falcon will be back.

Miyamoto said back in 2005 they were toying with the idea for the Wii. (article)

My gut feeling though is that its off the table for a while.  I just don't see Nintendo putting out yet another flying character driven Wii game after Mario Galaxy and NiGHTS.  Maybe they'll aim for the DS though (which I think is a better platform to reintroduce oldies on anyway)
Nintendo is remaking Nights? Is that the game from the Sega Saturn?

Sega is remaking it.  It'll be on the Wii.
The example DVD case box art can be found at your local EBGames.  You can see the front of it online.

So I just noticed on the official Smash Bros. site that the release has been pushed back to March 9th. I'm not surprised; given all the content and the high expectations for this game, it makes sense that they're taking their sweet time with it. Besides, with more time they can use the once-a-day updates to wind up the fans even more than they have already. Good work you guys. But...

Captain Olimar from Pikmin is playable, and Little Mac is not. I'm an unhappy ROMate.

It's already out in Japan.  I am contemplating a hunger-strike/suicide-by-flaming-gasoline protest at NoA headquarters next weekend.
