Christmas Swag
« on: December 26, 2007, 11:18:49 pm »
I think I've started this thread every year after Christmas since the forum got started. I'm surprised nobody beat me to it...upholding tradition, maybe? I doubt it, not with all the smart-asses we get around here.

Anyway, procedure is obvious: Tell us what the hell you got for fuckin' Christmas. Me?

I got a pile of Wii games. Spider-Man: Friend or Foe and Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn are the two that specifically are mine. Spider-Man totally rules. It's fun, it uses the Wiimote and Nunchuk in a fun, simple manner, and it has the Black Cat. Instant win. Fire Emblem is hard as shit. I'm still getting used to managing the system and making good use of my units.

While we're talking discs, I got Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 1, Transformers, and Spider-Man 3.  My mother of all the people got me the Burning Crusade for Warcrack (suprising since she hates the damn game) and I'm totally hooked on the Draenei I made. Luckily, it's not stealing my soul, and I'm still spending lots of time on my other gifts. I got a set of music CDs which I have yet to actually listen to, but tonight they're going into my iTunes library and tomorrow they'll make it out to my car, where I'll listen to them 10 times over the next week and get sick of them.

On the intellectual end of the spectrum, I got some books, puzzles, and LEGOs. Naturally, the books aren't TOO smart; mostly it's a bunch of Marvel-related stuff. The Ultimate Guide to Spider-Man and Marvel Vault are fairly informative references regarding Spider-Man and the history of Marvel comics. The Vault one actually is fairly cool in an "informative without being nerdy" kind of way. I could use it as a reference to track the success of a business or write a report. Yeah, it's got that kinda detail.

The put-together stuff is more Spidey and assorted geekery. Is anyone surprised? Spidey features as the first 3D puzzle I ever built. The LEGOs were a Y-Wing from Star Wars and a siege engine in the latest line of medieval sets. Altogether, it comes to about 2 hours of dinking around with tiny building blocks. I'm totally not satisfied. My brothers got LEGOs too and I wanna put them together for the hell of it.

And...that about wraps it up. What did the rest of you get!? SHARE!

I got a gamestop gift card that magically turned into an Xbox360 controller, a sweater, a new razor (more exciting than it sounds), a backordered Berserk statue, and then my gift to myself was the Blade Runner Final Cut Limited Edition Blu Ray box.

A good haul, overall.

EDIT:
Pics or it didn't happen:
The Razor: http://www.classicshaving.com/i/Merkur/34c.jpg (see, I told you it was cool)

Still waiting on the Berserk statue!

I got a 19" HD flat panel TV for my room (my older TV's were all hand-me-downs, so I needed one @_@), Nights, Metroid Prime 3, Super Paper Mario, some new Yugioh cards, a Zelda T-shirt, and several gift cards/certificates.  :3

I'm jealous of the TV and Computer upgrades. I need that stuff myself.

Received:

Office Space DVD
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End Blu-ray
Uncharted PS3

I'd include some of the stuff that I purchased for myself, but I didn't buy those as Christmas gifts and it's only a coincidence that they arrived around this time.

My brother doesn't come in until tomorrow so we haven't exchanged family gifts yet, but I told my folks months ago and they agreed to get me a china hutch to match the rest of my living/dining room furniture but we're going to wait until after New Year's to actually get it.  I'll update after the weekend with whatever my bro and sister-in-law get me.

I got myself new VIPER stuff of course: VIPER-RSR Early Edition (with handpainted cel), Gokuraku VIPER Paradice, and VIPER-GTS Windows.  My Japanese contact (whom I've bought from a few times now) even threw in an Asuka mousepad for free which was a nice Christmas surprise.

(If you've got about $90 and want your own copy of RSR with cel, my contact has another copy for sale on eBay.  Might be the same cel, might be different.  Looks like they come in 11 flavors.)

The razor I got for christmas has three rotating heads and spews conditioner from the center of the base.

Although due to irritation from all kinds of razors, electric and manual, I've given up shaving altogether.  Lumberjack beards ftw.  Might use it for the throat hairs though.
