Internet Annoyance = Felony

http://news.com.com/Create+an+e-annoyance%2C+go+to+jail/2010-1028_3-6022491.html

Bush signed a Bill that officially makes it so by annoying someone on the net and not revealing your true identiy, you are commiting a federal crime.

Read it all yourself, but I saw this coming, after the Patriot Act went down the government naturally has to go and do something else to oppress the American people, fuck.

Also as a funny, less serious note: This means 4chan will be empty. VERY SOON.

Honestly, that's the first thing I thought when I heard of this.

But I really gotta wonder, just how do they plan on enforcing this?

This form of Capitilist Democracy thrives on a few select things.

1. War
2. Taxes without Benefits
3. Being a Snitch

Much like the Patriot Act, this lovely law will be enforced by people telling the police or others what they saw or recieved, and this will furthermore lead to the bigger investigation into "Cyber-Terrorism" a fairly dead and in-active community these days. However the government will continue to look for scapegoats through a easily manipulated source, what better than the internet?

This is the Patriot Act - Lite version, expect a lot of stuff about this on the news about how we've stopped the next Jihad by shutting down somethingawful.

Honestly, I think this is just a politcal ploy to nail Bush's non-supporters. Guess the spoiled brat with the silver spoon is tired of having his wittle feelings hurt. [Lou from Loxahtchee Florida] Yeah, come to my house. I'm 6'2" and I know where to properly insert a baseball bat...

Interesting story about the Government in relevance to me.

In my later High School years, I really let myself go as far as being a political activist goes, one particular thing I did was form BEMR (Better Education on Military Recruitment), a group of kids who didn't support the war, etc. Most of us held Socialist or otherwise anti-Democratic ideals, and we went on to annoy the fuck out of Military recruiters.

The thing is, I got in very heated arguments with men who "RISK THIER LIVES FOR MY FREEDOM", and then I began getting stalked and harrassed by them on the phone, at school, etc. They eventually stopped because I told them on the phone I was gay and I couldn't leave my fiancé behind, they got very uncomfortable, and it felt good.

Lost a lot of respect from the conservatives the past few years of High School , but I left a legacy and B.E.M.R. is still active and going, and I bet they'll have something to say about this too.

Somehow I can see a police officer walking up to my doorstep with printouts of all of the horrible things I've said to people over the internet and making me go to court and being sentenced to a year in jail, just like in the last episode of Sienfield.

But I wouldn't go out so easily!  I'd fight it!

My opening sentence would be something like, "Those people were stupid and dumb!  Maybe they didn't deserve the ridicule or anguish, but they sure asked for it!  They took out their Mastercard and put an e-express order for digital whoopass by the gig from my personal factory, and I processed the order myself!"

"...And they didn't return it for a refund!  Shnooks!  All of them!"

I have a feeling this will end up with a big fat goose egg on the "OH NOES" scale. Call it a hunch, call it observation on the part of CNN.com not having anything on this, or call it people making mountains out of mole hills.

The fact is I don't think people are going to use it and the first case will be by a democrat who has thin skin =/

You do know CNN is owned by the government right?

Stop trusting in mainstream news, you have to dig deeper.

I'm annoyed by everyone else's presence on the internets. You guys suck up valuable bandwidth of which I could make better use, so I've decided to sue all of you.

I can tell when laws are going to be used by the silly people of the world, and only the people who have thin skin, and are sneaky little irksome bastards/bitches. The common use of this charge? I predict minimal use as A)not many people know of this little law and B) it won't stop flame wars.  The practical side is for extreme cyber stalking.

In other words: MOLE HILL.

Well, pretty much any american broadcast is, but "owned" is kinda a strong term. Newscasters don't go too far against what the government wants them to broadcast (or dosen't want rather), and the news stations get a front row seat to any wars or anything else that will generate ratings. Its been like this sense the 60s and its unlikely to ever change.

Its the type of "corruption" that goes hand in hand with a capatilist society. On the other hand, if we were living in a socialist or communist society, it really wouldn't be different. Can't really win on this front, so we just gotta accept the horse shit thats handed to us.

You pretty much just described 90% of the internet lol.

Actually, I agree with the Doctor. This isn't something that going to really effect most of us. I've actually seen something like this coming, tho it doesn't change the fact that its utterly rediculous. For anyone that doesn't keep up with some of the political blogs coming out of washington, Bush supporters and extreamist conservative groups are getting absolutly blasted, by both democrates and republicans. I think the Bush camp and his gang of die-hard conservative watchdogs want to know exatly who their enemies are and this is something thats very typical of Bush's politics. The serious washington political blogs are probably the only cases were this "law" will ever come into effect.

Its probably safe for 4chan to breath a sigh of relife.

I don't think that Jesus, Buddha, and any other god declaring the end of the world would clean up 4chan's act.
