Never before seen Cala Viper RSR animated gif...
« on: November 29, 2008, 01:03:11 am »

I bet you can't tell where this comes from... ;)

That's right! You don't have a clue...

I'll tell you why: I made this animated gif...

Saw Magelords work in the other post (http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/forum/index.php/topic,1807.0.html) and thought about seeing if I could contribute something too. I'm not very much of anime artist so the whole process was a pain in the ass. I'm no fan of monsters and stuff like that, but Viper art is so great and Cala is just so hot. I decided to make a picture where nothing nasty is happening to her.

Hope you guys appreciate the image. Feel free share the gif with whomever you want.

Not bad.  Those tiles remind me of the bonus stages in Sonic the Hedgehog 3.

GJ!  I like it!

How'd you make it?

And yeah, Moquin, now that you mention it, that is the tile from Sonic 3's bonus stages.

Haha... the tiles are from this pic: http://fapomatic.com/show.php?loc=49&f=viprsr289.gif

How'd I make it... well:

For the body I mainly used a real picture and changed the proportions a bit so she feels closer to Cala's voluptuous body. The head is basically an existing head from one of the pictures of the game only that I changed the eye expression (but it's fully re-drawn with different shading). I didn't want to just cut off the head from an existing gif and mount it on a body because it doesn't look good and the lighting would be off.

The shading is done using several reference images. The animation was one of the hardest things (despite it being rather simple). In traditional animation you always do the animation before coloring and finishing the image but in this case I had the final image complete even before doing any animation at all. Lot's of trial and error. If I had to do something else I think I'd try a different approach.

Nice pic, but honestly I'd say concentrate on making some nice stills first, just because animation is such a monumental task.

Yeah... I know starting off with animations is not the best... but there's just something about animated gifs that makes a big difference compared to stills (at least to me). It's not like I would plan on attempting complicated animations anyway... (too much for me).

Very nice job with the GIF, but her waist looks slightly wide like they are in line with her shoulders. I'm probably just nit-picking so I apologize if I am.

No problem. I agree... the reference for the body is from a real girl (I didn't make it up or use an anime drawing for reference).

Since I used a photo for reference the resulting image has a more 'natural' body than the usual Viper style.
