Japan is apparently a wondrous place of specialty brothels. There's something elegant about "blowjob shop", like there's no ambiguity about what you're going in for.

Hey guys, another BIG time Viper fan here! I may be able to help with translations.... where do things stand and how can I help? "Devil Came" is my favorite story everrrrrr!

The Devil Came is actually pretty far along already.  Minus the international versions, no other game is anywhere near as well translated yet.


I think the biggest thing we need is multiple people translating the same fragments of text.  And I mean manually translating them, not just plugging them into a machine translator. Anybody can do that and although it provides a fair translation about half the time, it's too rough around the edges and requires signficant cleanup work to get the context right or to decode complex words on the other half.  People occasionally post a few translated fragments here, and I often take the time to critique them, but it would be better if we had two or three people on each fragment, and could come to a concensus amongst the group about what is actually being said, rather than just one person's rough interpretation and my improvements to it.


I can certainly rip the original Japanese text from any SGS-based VIPER game for anybody who wants to help translate something.  Thanks to concerted efforts around here, we've completely broken the SGS compression algorithm and have a fair understanding the WIN bytecode formats now too, so ripping the text is rather straightforward.  (Of course, anyone who would rather try to figure out the PC98 file formats would be welcomed as well.)
