video editting software

Hi, I need a suggestion for video editting software. I need something to cut up a wmv into smaller files. Can anybody help?

There's also Adobe Premier.  It probably costs just as much.

Or you know, you could go to download.com and search for video editing programs.  They have a search filter that lets you search for free ones.

Premiere is the way to go, but it kills your RAM and might take a while to learn. Movie Maker's like, the scrub program, but don't care what other people think, use it if you really need to get something done quick.

I'm still working with Vegas so I don't know what to say about that.
