Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
« on: August 13, 2006, 03:11:55 pm »
Info

This is a movie that everyone needs to see like, now. It's notable for a few things:

1: It's a movie starring Jim Carrey that's not completely unwatchable.

2: It's a romance film even a guy can watch without putting his masculinity in jeopardy.

3: It's just fucking awesome.

Anyways. Anyone besides me see this?

Agreed. It deserved it's oscar.

You might like Adaptation and Being John Malkovich as well (both are done by the same screenwriter of Eternal Sunshine).

i for one didnt like it. i thought it was a terrible idea and was even moreso carried out poorly. when you get down to it, our memories are what define us as human beings, and to destroy those because they make you unhappy is a silly principal indeed. i personally prefer jim carey in a less serious role, like in "fun with dick and jane" or "lemony snickkets: a series of unfortunate events". the only serious role i can think of liking him in is in "man in the moon".

The movie was okay, but I will agree with heirophant and say that I prefer Jim Carey in a funny role.

Try The Truman Show. Jim did great there too, but without the serious and dark atmosphere.

Carrey's a flexible actor, but he's so well known for his goofy comedy (and he does it exceedingly well) that it's about all you ever see him in, which is sad.

Bravery is better than a faint heart for a man seeking to put his nose out of doors. My fate and the number of my days has already been decided.

the truman show scares the hell outta me. that is a bad bad movie for a borderline schitzophreniac to watch.
