where's the beef?
« on: September 12, 2006, 09:34:22 pm »
have you got a problem with someone? want to flame them? or discuss it maturely? this is your thread.

i'll start. currently, hmd i have a problem with you. thus far you have resorted to childish tactics and witless retorts. i have tried to be civil. i have been patient. but now, frankly, i'm tired of this little game. you are NOT  funny. your so called "humor" is nothing but counter-productive slanderous garbage. you come off like a xenophobic, white-trash, hurricane surviver that has had one too many q-tips jammed in his ass. you HAVE single handedly cause several of the members here to leave. in my honest opinion. you are a slack-jawed moron not worth pissing on to put out a fire. people like you should be castrated at birth to prevent further digression of the human race. i personally dont care what you have to say to any of this. you are a far inferior speceimen of humanity.

and hyperguy. if you think it is "mature" to simply cow down and take verbal abuse, being it from miles away or not, you are sorely mistaken. that sir, is called cowardice or spinelessness.

hmm, an actual flaming thread...  this might have been just what this forum needed.  we don't need threads such as the otaku one filled up with conflicts.  i suggest that the mods keep this area in mind should another issue arise.

btw, i will use this opportunity to say that i currently have NO beefs with anyone at the moment.  i hope everyone else is cool with me too...  i don't think i've done anything to make anyone mad...

My old forums used to have this section called "The Gutter" and everyone could start flame topics. There and only there.
Haha.

Uhm... who was HMD before HMD? Didn't he have a username before that one?

I think it's mature to be able to choose your battles, and to be able to tell yourself that no matter what happens or what anyone says, that you're not going to solely focus on the negative, you're not going to get into an argument over petty things, and that despite what other people think, that it's not more important than what you think.

So you're basically saying that if someone tells you something offensive that you should dedicate your time to it.  Well, you can.

I won't.

My current beef, at this time, is with myself. As I am currently a poster on this forum, I have to to disagree with myself on many issues.. For example, which vernacular should I use. All sides of myself, being the parties heretofore referred to as me, myself, "I", and ego sum (the rperesentative from classical antiquity), have made excellent points on this issue.

Me, for example, has explained quite simply that the proper English to be used would have to come from the authoritative source of the English language established in the 18th century, Dr. Samuel Johnson's Dictionary. Not only would it lend an air of erudition to my speaking, but under those earlier definitions, I would be able to justifiably call most, if not all of the fellows on this forum illiterate.

Myself, on the other hand, has adopted a more  nationalistic stance on the language, instead deciding to go by the slang used in the United States suring the great time of the Progressives, in order to reflect a more positive tone than things could only get better as one goes through hard work. For example, while I did, in fact used to shovel coal at the historic site I volunteer at, and now I am a valued archivist volunteer.

"I", however, wishes me to learn and adopt the modern slang, in order to porperly blend in with American culture. This is the least favorable option, however, as I would be foreced to give up speaking English.

Ego sum, on the other hand, questions my need to use a barbaric Indo-European Language at all, and things that I should re-adopt my study of Latin and use it at all times.

The debate, as you can imagine, is fairly stalemated, and my own stubbornness on this vitally important issue, especially with me and myself. Ego sum, being of the lower order of the patricians, commands much more dignity. I hope you understand my frustration.
Oh, little ice cream friends, Thog delay his boredom-driven rampage only for you.

i say just use whatever comes naturally for ya, although i believe the constant use of Latin would confuse the hell out of most people here.  some of you guys might have noticed that i hardly ever use capital letters that much in my own Internet grammar.  i just hate holding down the shift key all the time, that's all.  =/

oh yeah - now i DO have a beef.  it's towards the idiot who keeps posting that regenerating drug spam shit...  no one around here gives a fuck about phentermine or whatever you're trying to promote...  hell, i don't even know what phentermine IS, let alone fucking care.  leave advertising to the media - don't put it in discussion threads.

...yeah, i AM starting to like this thread...  it gives me a good place to vent and complain, lol.  good idea, heirophant, i think i'll give you some rep for that.

:) i posted one like this on one of the old baka boards too. i think all forums need a place like this to keep arguments out of threads.

r-9. i hope you dont think me illiterate. i speak, (admittedly a dumbed down) form of latin fleuently. it is basic latin that does not use the sexual based connotations. (i.e. tyranos being male, tyranum being female, and tyranios being neutral.) for example.

Well, then, you do fulfill the 18th-century definition of literacy, in some sense. Back then, illiteracy meant an insufficient knowledge of Greek or Latin.

Wise stuff coming from Hyperguy. I agree with, because I apply what he said to my daily life.

I prefer to keep the vast majority of my anger and hate toward people to myself. I imagine that once I've finally snapped I'd prefer to not give my targets prior warning that I'm coming over to their houses with a running chainsaw.

Plus I like my new signature. Screaming and swearing at everything works to take out yer stress somethin' fierceness.

Civility is overrated, don't you think?
