Eva vs. Eva
« on: September 21, 2006, 02:00:42 pm »
Yep, it's that time again.

Whatever the insistance of fans, Evas are giant robots. Not only that, but super robots from the same roots as Mazinger Z. Waile tough bio machines, they have an alarming tendency to be piloted by the most angsty and/or incompetant teens available from the Japanese education system. While it seems odd to create a machine that gets more powerful the more neurotic the pilots get, whatever works to beat the monster of the week!

When one says "destroyer" in Freespace, it's rather akin to "Star Destroyer" rather than "Escort vessel.", and the Demon-class destroyer Eva is a prime example of this. It lacks the "tunnel vision" of other Shivan destoyers, being able to actually shoot up things that aren't directly in front of it, and its crew know that warfare against aliens is best carried out in silence. Unfortunately, like a number of badly-designed shooter bosses, it had a blind spot. Good luck getting there, though.

Gotta go for the destroyer given that it has weapons that can hit from excessive range.

Have to side with the Destroyer as well, as its piloting does not solely rely on the mental stability of a angsty 14 year old.

Normally I'd ask you to justify your existance or perish in fire, but last time I tried that over the internets, I had to get a new monitor.

Also, the tacit admission of dumbassery is enough to slake my thirst for vengance.

Okay, that's great.

But last I checked, I'm admitting to voting for Eva, not to dumbassery.

Edit: And it looks like I'm not the only one who voted for Eva(the robot).

You're not alone, Hyperguy.  I've never played this Freespace game before, but I've always liked the Evas.  Besides, being able to kill off Angels (I guess they were incarnations of biblical-style angels, seeing how the storyline went)??  That's gotta take something obscenely strong...  and evil too, now that I think about it...  =(

Wow. Someone couldn't take a joke.

Anyhow I knew that there would be folks that would vote for robots, just like those who voted for Bishis Sephiroth.

They're not REALLY angels. They're space monsters.

So far, the winner is a somewhat poorly designed machine. Yet it has the capability to obliterate anything in it's path, like the robots.

It wins because it's in space. Evas can't get to space, so it wins because it kill them from space.

The aforementioned blind spot is approximately a few meters away from the hull, and a destroyer ain't a space station. The Evas have attacked things in space from the ground before, though, and I don't know the range of the Tokyo Gun.

Found a good one for Tiamat vs. Tiamat.

The Evil Dragon Goddess from Dungeons and Dragons Vs. The Fiend of Wind from Final Fantasy, that fight?

Methinks the Dungeons and Dragons one owns the Final Fantasy one, unless Warmech decides to blow up a few evil dragons.

SCv Moloch-class vs. Nephilim battleship from Wing commander Prophecy, actually. Then Orks vs. Starcraft.

I'm modifying the post:

I found this old pack of CDs in my room last week and it had a bunch of Neon Genesis episodes, and I realized how complex the show was. Well, you know. The angels and all that. Adam//Lilith too (I only learned about the actual Adam//Lilith story recently, I feel so retarded. Haha)

I also remember talking about Neon Genesis Evangelion after class when I was in college with my Anthropology teacher. He knew like... everything. And he's 40+ with one ab.
