Random M1 question
« on: October 24, 2006, 02:31:00 am »
A lot of people probably don't know the answer to this one, since I'm pretty sure the replay mode was removed in the international version. But I'm playing the Japanese, and replay is there.. but I can't figure out how to unlock it for any of the stories aside from Green Boy.
I've gotten the good endings for both The Mayworks and My Mothers, but the chapters aren't even appearing in the information section. Do I have to see EVERY ending? 'cause I'm almost sure I have, but its hard to tell without a list of the endings I HAVE seen. :/

(On that note, a random thought. I'm working my way through the Vipers from the earliest I can find up, and M1 is by far the most annoying so far, between the running away sequence in Mayworks and the awful 'combat' in My Mothers.)

I believe you have to get every ending before the replay option appears.  Last I checked the international version had a replay option, though to be honest, it's been a while since I played it.

I like the combat in My Mothers, because Mika says funny things when she attacks. =D

I gotta agree though, the running sequence in May Works is rather annoying.

I think Green Boy actually has the most endings in M1, so if you already got that, then it shouldn't be that much more work to see the rest of the endings in the other two episodes. There's a convenient M1 guide at GameFAQs to check off all the endings with.

Thanks for the help. And Hyperguy, you make a good point about My Mothers. (WTF does that name have to do with the title anyway?)
'Where's oniichan PUNCH!' XD I just wish it didn't take so long to finish each battle. But then again, F50 was so much worse in that respect, so I guess I can't complain, especially since Mika has to be one of my favorite Viper girls. (too bad there's no H of her un-transformed state)

Well, rather than make a topic for every stupid random thought I have playing these games, I'll just keep saying stuff here. Is it just me or are F40 and F50 REALLY depressing for hentai games?
MAJOR SPOILER SPACE

I mean, I suppose when they mentioned Sheila's heart condition in F40, I should've seen it coming. I definitely put 2 and 2 together and saw it coming when she went missing. But when she actually had a heart attack, I still sat there in shock that Sogna actually did it. Totally ruined any enjoyment I may have gotten out of the H scene, you can bet. I was all set to cheer up with some silly tokusatsu parody with F50 but nooo, they had to pull a tragic villains-who-weren't-really-bad storyline. And once again I gaped in shock at the screen when Gel killed Marie.. *sighs* She was cute too :(

"My Mothers" Probably makes more sense to Japanese speakers. I did notice in Mayworks during the exposition scene, Kabuto and Maki repeat the word "meiwaku" (annoyance) which happens to rhyme with the title and fits in nicely with the episode's theme. No idea what "My Mothers" is supposed to mean though. It's likely a pun of some kind though. It seems a lot of Viper games are named that way.

And yeah, I think "depressing and gritty" is supposed to be the theme of the F series. Just like "silly and girly" is the apparent theme of the M series.

Hmm. 'Maimazaazu..' doesn't sound like any japanese word I can think of, but I'm not fluent so I could've easily missed something. Thats a good point about Mayworks though.
Well, F40 was interesting for trying to weave a more intricate story than a standard h-game. Gotta say CTR did it better though (and both are somewhat mediocre in terms of h quantity/quality.. coincidence?) F50 caught me way off guard though. I was absolutely NOT expecting them to completely rework the Mirai Tokusou Bravan story into something gritty and serious. I mean, a serious, tokusatsu themed, h-game. You don't see that.

For the sake of this post not being a total waste of space, here's some random theories about what, exactly, Bravan parodied. Bravans name itself sounds rather similar to "Gavan" a police-themed toku series from the early 80s. Gavans finisher was a 'laser blade', too. Hmmm.
Edit: On further inspection, Gavan, and the shows that succeeded it, also had the characters real name and transformed name the same, and the main characters always had a female assistant whose official duty seemed to be 'take up oxygen'. Add 'get molested on a daily basis' to that list of duties and you have Anri. :>
