VIPER-CCR Conceptual Storyline [SPOILERS]
« on: November 10, 2006, 07:57:18 pm »
Over the last few weeks, and primarily while hg.net was down for awhile, I finally jotted down my ideas for the CTR sequel that Asukachan99 was needing to complement his artwork.  If you're not interested in knowing anything more about it until the game is finished (if), please discontinue reading.

Asukachan99, I hope this inspires you to make some more art.  Perhaps we can fill in each others gaps as I'm far from being able to tell a complete story yet.  It's just a treatment so far and needs fleshing out.

VIPER-CCR: Miki

Title note: The Koenigsegg CCR is currently the world's fastest production car.  CTS, while
obvious, implies its another game in the "T" series.  CCR allows for a totally new "C" series.

Story begins with Captain's proposal to Asuka
Story ends with Captain & Asuka's Wedding

General Questions:
Who does Miki live with? Alone? Takeshi? Asuka? (Not Captain, shes moved out)
How willing is Takeshi to have sex with Miki? Miki needs to constantly be frustrated with him.
How often should the dojo kids show up? Needs to be funny every time - think Three Stooges.
How big a role should Osamu's gang play?
Does Shiori play a role, if so, what and how much?

Scene 1: Captain Proposes to Asuka
Captain, Asuka, Miki, and Takeshi in scene
Someone holding out in engagement ring.
Asuka squealing 'YES!'
Asuka's eyes well up in tears of happiness.
Captain and Asuka hug and kiss.
Miki is clearly happy and claps for them.
Some dialog.
Miki hints that Takeshi should "be a man" and propose to her someday, too.
Takeshi blows it off, mumbling that Miki's never serious about anything.

Scene 2: Miki and Asuka chat
Asuka is thrilled, Miki seems down but tries not to show it.
At some point Asuka leaves and Miki broods, thinking Takeshi doesn't care much for her.

Scene 3: Next day at dojo
The dojo kids are terribly bummed out.

Scene ?: Ferris Wheel
The two couples go to the amusement park.
Choice: All 4 in same cab or go as couples.
Not much happens if all four go together.
If split into pairs, Captain and Asuka board first carriage. Takeshi and Miki in next.
Game shouldn't show Captain and Asuka having sex, but infer it though carriage rocking back and forth.
Miki notices rocking and tries to get Takeshi to do it as well.
Question: Do they do it or does Takeshi blow her off again? Maybe a blowjob or paizuri?

Scene ?: Captain asks Takeshi to be Best Man
Captain says its Asuka's idea.
Neither is too thrilled about it, as they're still not that fond of each other.

Scene ?: Miki makes peace with Osamu
Somehow Miki and Osamu bcome friendly, despite what happened in CTR.
Osamu claims he couldn't resist her charm.
Miki, frustrated by Takeshi's inaction, is receptive.

Bad Ending 1: Miki Raped by Osamu's Gang
Similar to scene in CTR

Bad Ending 2: Miki Goes Rebel
Miki joins Osamu's gang and becomes his girl.
Question: Should the gang beat up Takeshi at some point? This should make Miki question her choice.

Bad Ending 3: Miki Dumped at Wedding
Takeshi reveals he's seeing another girl now (maybe even brings her to wedding?)
Miki runs out of church, leaving Asuka without Maid of Honor. Wedding ruined.
Question: Should Captain punch Takeshi to help ruin everything?

Good ending:
Takeshi proposes before wedding starts.
Ending credits shows clips from wedding (in maybe a style like home photographs?)
-Miki as Maid of Honor
-Takeshi as Best Man
-Dojo kids as the flower girl and ring bearer
-Asuka walking down aisle with other Viper characters in attendance looking on (cameos only)
-Asuka nad Captain looking into each other's faces
-Kiss
-Feeding each other cake (Asuka smashes it onto Captains face like the ice cream in CTR ending)
-Dojo kids making friends with the M3 girls
-Several Viper characters from different series talking to each other
-Osamu in reception wearing shades and chilling out with feet up on table
-Throwing the bouquet
-Viper girls jumping for the bouquet
-Miki holding bouquet and other girls clapping around her
Final image in credits shows Miki and Takeshi holding hands, a ring on her finger.

Sounds like a great concept, I'll do some more animations to go along with the storyline so far. once I do a fair amount we can see about filling in the gaps. When I get the animations I need done, I will make a (sort of) demo, so we can see exactly how the story runs with the animations. I think it would be easier to fill in the gaps when you are actually veiwing the animations in order ( at least for me )
the only concern I have in making this, is the lack of voice acting
to use the same voices I would have to take sound bytes from CTR to create new scripts
unless I made the game silent except for music and H-scenes...

More ideas:

Asuka, Miki, Captain (and possibly Takeshi) go to a local swimming pool or the beach.  Because there isn't enough art of Miki and Asuka in swimwear.  I see Asuka being very "proper" in her selection (one piece, not very revealing) while Miki's is possibly too revealing, much to Captain and Takeshi's dismay.

Miki gets a part time job at Anne Mitters.  Who doesn't want to see Miki in waitress cosplay?

Ok, The demo engine 2.0 is pretty much complete. I just need to work on the saving/loading feature.

Scenes 1 and 2 are pretty much done

Im working on a few new H-Scenes (about 3 or 4)

The engine can now load individual animation or swf files and seperatly load text

when the animations for the demo are done and ordered, Ill send it to JG00 (if you wanted to help script it).

Once its scripted Ill release the demo, add any scenes for the full version and then release the full version.

My only problem is voice acting......

Loading and Saving now work, however, you can currently only save 1 savestate otherwise it screws up.
So I disabled multiple saves for now, but it dose save one game file

Ive been working on the engine pretty much all night for 2 days with some trial and error. Im finally getting the hang of it and all the kinks are pretty much worked out.

the load and save feature works through something called local shared object in flash.
this is a file in the users documents and settings. by defult, flash can only store 100k in that file, but this amount can be expanded by the user in the flash settings.

and one more thing.... repeat still dosnt work

Try working with a 4k limit.  I still haven't worked that out in Henjin, as its a standard cookie management rule all browsers are supposed to follow.  What I wouldn't give for 100k right now.  Instead I'm probably going to have to save to a local file via an ActiveX object, meaning save states will probably only work in IE.

Have you considered making a "quicksave" state and save to it at the beginning of each scene change?  When someone clicks repeat, just load the quicksave like it was any other save state.  Taking this one step further, a "hard" save would just be a copy of your most recent quicksave.

As far as Henjin goes, I've found a way to make save states work reliably now.  With some nifty Javascript tricks I create an in-memory XML document that lets me add practically as much data as I want (well beyond the 4KB limit imposed by cookies.)  I've tested this in IE, Safari, and FireFox now and they all support this concept.  This allows me to have the quicksave for emulating the "repeat" function from VIPER games!  However, only IE can save the XML document to a local file (and read it again upon reloading the page) so only it can have true load/save functionality between browser sessions.  Safari and FireFox will lose the save session on page reload or browser close.. until they come up with an appropriate synonym for Microsoft's Scripting ActiveX objects.  There may be plugins to do the same, but they're not built into the browsers like Scripting is for IE, so I'm hesitant to support it.

This also means my list of "todos" is now down to one: to figure out a way to make the "return" command go back to the previous line an event was called from (in other words, while waiting for a "react") or to the line immediately following the line it was called from (such as with a "goto" command)  I obviously don't want to return to a "goto" line becuase I'd get stuck in an infinite loop when the goto gets called over and over.  But I need to return to "react" lines so that waiting for user interaction can continue after processing the event in the subfunction.  Designing a semi-functional, object-oriented, event-driven programming language from scratch is hard.

Henjin 1.0 - coming this weekend!

Im working on the Osamu gang rape scene now. ;-)
I'll be following your story concept exactly, with the anne millers job, beach scene, or anything else we can think of as special scenes.
one question, should I make the game so your playing as takeshi, like you where playing as captain in ctr?

I was envisioning it as third person, with emphasis on following Miki.  You might get to read her thoughts in a few scenes but never anyone elses.  This is pretty much like V12/CTR was with Captain.

I don't think playing the game through Takeshi's eyes would work as well as through Miki's.  For example, Miki's frustration with Takeshi's reluctance to advance their relationship is going to play out well as Miki, but would be an absolute bore as Takeshi (in fact, Miki may come off as a bitch, which is not our goal.)  Of course, you could do the multiple intersecting storylines or flip protagonists every chapter a la M5, but I personally don't like the sound of that.

There needs to be an ending where Miki gets wasted and has sex with Captain.

I'll draw that scenario if you want it included, Asukachan.

There are only a few Miki animations left. Im currently working on 3 right now. I really dont want this game overloaded with only Miki, so, I'm going to put an Asuka Scene in. I also, want maybe like a flashback scene with Shiori if It can fit in with the script, JG00. Im getting faster at animating, now and one animation dosnt take as long as it used to.

I figured I'd put this here since its part of the production process as opposed to the other thread that was showing off work.

JG00, what would the process be of digitizing the cels for CCR? Like, after they are scanned in. Im sure they will have to be reduced to certain colors or something, I'm in the process of getting custom paint to match the numbers of skin, hair, etc.. So, will that make it easier?
