Sure it's not technically an anime, but it's close enough (and better) in my eyes than most "true" anime. The story's compelling, the characters are fun, and it's based in so much real-life mythology and martial arts there's no BS in it at all. So far, I think Sokka and Toph are my favorite characters. I hope to catch more of them in the upcoming future; I just found out the times/days it's on. Anyone else seen it?

I have. If you want my opinion, it's probably the best show on Nick right now since Invader Zim got canceled.

It was once a place where great cartoons like Danger Mouse and Inspector Gadget hang out... Now it's home to awful toons like Rugrats and Spongebob Squarepants.

Sure, Avatar's plot may sound generic at first, but once you get past that, and enjoy the characters lives (Villains included) there's much more than that. That's why I love Avatar.

Avatar is awesome, great plot, good characters that actually develop, and top notch animation and character design. Those guys really did thier homework.

Also they gave us Toph, who has proudly invaded the laws of Rule 34. And that makes me happy.

AVATAR FTW

You mean there's Toph porn? I don't know what to think of that.

Toph maybe blind, but she isn't stupid. She's probably the best Earth Bender I ever did see, and she can kick almost anyone's ass with it! You don't want to mess with Toph unless you want to look good in bandages.

If she's still 12, I think "Ew." But if they've aged her up to her teens, I wouldn't think, I'd just fap to it. =P

But seriously, Toph is one of the best characters there. Her attitude is something that I always thought the group needed. Aang and Katara lack a certain stopping power in their defense, which Toph brings to the party with her earth-bending. Plus the way she treats her blindness is kinda sad, but funny, too, like when she compliments Sokka's drawings of Appa, and when she claims to have seen the ancient ruins of a library in the desert, only to remind everyone that she's blind when they turn to look and ask where she saw it. XD

Sorry for the slight diversion but I like Spongebob, its in a similar mode to the old Warner Bros. cartoons.

As for Avatar I haven't seen it but I will have to go check it out.

I played the Avatar game, which takes place around the time of Aang's training with the Northern Water Tribe. It's pretty simple, and levels are short, but it's fun anyway.

Agreed with the rest of the thread. For an American .. whatever you want to classify it as, it's very good compared to other cartoons of today's nature.

I'd just like to enter another comment.

ROMAte is right, Avatar is about 10x better than most "true anime" being shown today, which is usually 5-10 episodes of senseless repetitive shit to make up for the fact that it's a rehashed plot and less than glorious animation. (See Naruto, See Bleach, See etc. etc. etc.)

That being said, yay.

Fuck yeah that was an awesome cartoon, I miss it now that you mention it, and the house I'm moving into lacks teh Toon Disney.

Oh mang....
