Viper MIDIs.
« on: April 07, 2007, 05:31:54 pm »
Hey, guys. I need some help collecting the MIDIs from the Viper games. I only have Viper GTS and I'm on dial-up, so if anyone could upload the MIDIs somewhere and gimme links, it'd kick arse.

http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/music/

This covers all the modern Sogna games, minus Animahjong V3 (which I do not have), the Island and Gokuraku games (which for the most part do not have new music), and VIPER-M5 (of which I do not have the audio tracks)

Only the earlier games came with MIDI samples.  Later games came with 22.5KHz CD audio that I've ripped to MP3.

Animahjong X and BTR were ripped from actual game samples.  I had to pipe the Windows output audio to a file as the game played, so they may not sound as crisp to a professional.  I think they sound pretty authentic though.

What I'd like back from the community for sharing these:
1) Animahjong V3 that I've been requesting for years (;_;)
2) An image of M5 disc 2 that contains the audio tracks.
3) Identification where each track is played in the games where I've not already identified them by name or event (this includes Guynarock, Typing VIPER, F40, M3, and RSR)

http://www.emupc.com/soft/6/2/2007/20070401567.html

but I don't know anything about PC9801 and my japanese is blah...

If you can't open the .zip file, try saving it as .rar.

With all the humanatarian work I do around here, I'm surprised not one of you fine folks has stepped forward and offered to assist with this rather uncomplicated request yet.  Help a pal out.  I know several of you have Typing, F40, and RSR already - and I made M3 available at Christmas (another example of my generousity in the local region of the internets)   It's tough to make progress on my upcoming VIPER site when I don't get even a little bit of help when requested.

Doft, this rant does not apply to you, nor does it apply to those of you that have none of the listed games.  Everyone else should be private messaging me with offers to help right after reading this sentence.

Sorry, I would help but I don't have any of the things you requested.

I can work on trying to find this.

Note: I found a Viper M5 torrent that's almost 1 gig in size (2 bin/cues in the rar)...HOWEVER: there's no seed with several guys at 93.5%. I'll keep searching for a complete one while leeching for this (which may or may not get a seeder).

I have just added the Animahjong V3 tracks (at least, those I could get to...)   I suspect the girl's father has his own theme music but I'll have to experiment with the save file to see if I can access his stage.  I sure can't play my way there ~_~

That didn't take too long.  By trail and error and process of elimination, I've found out that the byte offset that deals with game state is 0x0F2.  Lowest bit set clears Rumi, second bit clears Miyabi, and third clears Yumika.  So 0x07 in that byte clears them all and gives you the ending.  I zeroed out every other byte in the save file except that one, and I still got the ending, so I don't see how there can be a stage for the girl's father unless it happens immediately after defeating the third girl but doesn't give an option to save at that point.   Since there doesn't seem to be any similarly named files for the father I find the odds more likely that there is no such stage after all.  It more than likely goes straight to the ending after beating the third girl.
