Touhou Project #8. "Touhou" (東方) means "Eastern" or "The East" (in this case, the setting)
Some trivia notes:
1) This game is based on the Story of the Bamboo Cutter/Kaguya-hime (hence the term "Imperishable Night," since the stories have a lot to do with the moon)
2) "Touhou" (東方) means "Eastern" or "The East"
3) The bullet patterns are called "Spell Cards"
4) A LOT of the spell cards in the game have some kind of reference in it
5) The WHOLE cast in the game is female (excluding stuff like doujins, manga, side stories, etc.; included, I think there's 2 or 3 guys). Some of them are really strange (one girl has a shikigami that has a shikigami and acts a lot like Xellos from Slayers Next; one's a vampire whose a light eater, so the people she "feeds" off of survive most of the time [vampiric infections don't apply, apparently]; the most toppling in strange is a girl that's "half-ghost/half-human." Sex with a ghost? Uhhhhh...). Oh yeah, it's generally taboo to draw one particular girl with cat ears; instead, it's customary to draw her with dog ears. Very rare occurence in animedom.
6) The series is pretty big, spanning 7 traditional vertical danmaku shooters (one due to be released), 2 danmaku versus shooters, 2 2-D fighting games (one is due to be released soon) that have a heavy emphasis on projectile attacks and one danmaku dodger (it's hard to describe in a few words). There's also a ton of spinoffs, such as the Seihou ("Western") series, which is more like stuff like R-type and Gradius shooters; a Megaman/X copy; a bunch of other kinds of shooters, one an introductery shooter to the concepts of Touhou featuring a few characters from the game and the Ikaruga; and even a game/script maker (Danmakufu). One guy even used Danmakufu to create a game that practically parallels the main series [and this took me a bloody hard time to find a download of].
7) One dude made the series (with the exception of the fighting ones). Music, graphic, and gameplay; so the credits are really short (added plus is that it's possible to fast forward them too).
