Problems with Guynaroc
« on: September 13, 2007, 02:47:14 am »
I downloaded the Viper torrent with most of the games and it came with one called Guynaroc. Everytime I try to run it, I get an error message with a description I can't read. Anyone have any idea how to fix this and run the game properly?

Surely you mean Gunyarock...

Hello EBgames?  I'd like 10 copies of Gunyarock!

I'm sorry miss, but all we have are copies of Halo 2.  The closest thing we have to a game called Gunyarock is a game for the PC called Galactic Gaurdian Guynarock, which was released by Sogna in 1995. We have it for sale used, for $20.

Impossible!  That's not the same game at all! Why does this happen everytime I call?!

DID SOMEBODY CALL ME?!

Not unless somebody called out "Dumbface."

I sure could use a backrub. <3

SUP GUYS FRIED CHICKEN

...It looks like we're going to have to try again tomorrow.

Galactic Guardian Guynarock R is Sogna's bastard child of sorts.  Its the first and only game Sogna published after starting the VIPER series that was itself not a VIPER game, though most people lump it in with them.  They published it about the same time as F40 and F50, and it looks and plays similar to both.  It's based off one of their earliest PC88 games, Galactic Guardian Guynarock, featuring five females who must defined their space station from an alien assault.  At their disposal is a huge robot, the Guynarock, who they can call upon in their most desperate hour to defeat the alien lord's own super robot.

Below you'll see the five girls and the Guynarock in the background.  (This is the box art of GGG-R, minus the title graphic and Sogna logo.)

As far as the Congress of Awesome is concerned, its just something to poke fun at.  We jokingly call it Gunyarock (where did that come from anyway HG?)  It often shows up in Viper Thumbnail Theatre as the object of Raika's ongoing queries to her local EBGames.  They never have it in stock.

Might I also add that the above referenced post from March 2005 is and will forever be the most epic post ever on the Congress of Awesome.  And not just because Karin cosplay equals automatic win.

Anybody have any suggestions? 'cause I'd like to play it, despite it being Songa's bastard child.

I think "Gunyarock" came from HG having momentary dyslexia.

You can try the V16 International EXE swap workaround described here.  Don't think anyone's tried it on Guynarock though so no promises.

Just "momentary", ROMate?

It would have been had we not made it into an epidemic.

Does this mean I have to hand out the shotguns set aside for "epidemics" again?

Only when zombies get involved.  Hyperguy still has some wits left, so its too early to break out the firearms just yet.

I just got through playing Guynaroc, and while I found its story entertaining(though I didn't understand a word of it), the sex was pretty underwhelming. I don't think there's enough of it, and a lot of it seems to be just out of frame(I don't think there's any penetration shots), and the blonde protaganist never got screwed at all. Now, does this mean that I just made the wrong choices thoughout the game, or is this as good as the pornographic side of the game gets?

By the way, what do those two choices that you have the option of toggling on or off at the title screen do?

The choices in Guynarock don't mean a thing. The story basically plays out the same no matter what you do. (Same is true for its contemporaries, F40 and F50)

The two options are:
Auto-scenario - game plays itself without any clicking
Message - I seem to recall this having something to do with the text appearing at the bottom of the screen or it being audio-only.

Cheers for the answers, JG00. It is a right pity that Guynarorck's sex scenes aren't up to scratch, because the rest of it seemed pretty good(like I said I don't understand anything being said, but it does all seem to be rather exciting). It's got a fairly attractive cast too(well, the three older characters are), which makes it a bit more disappointing.

The Chibi retelling of the story was entertaining though. Especially the abortion-punch at the end.
