On the right:
Asuka mousepad
Sogna Store double-sided shopping bag
That thing leaning in the middle is a 12"/30cm ruler to give a sense of scale.

I have some oddities from Japan, too.  Nothing eidble though (and some would argue if SoyJoy is.)
Any of these are for sale or trade, as they were throw-ins by the seller or extraneous pieces of lots.  If something catches your eye in these sets, let me know.  Pay for shipping and you can have it (except one.)
Promos, lots of posters, a One Piece order form of some kind.  I don't recognize most of these animes or games.  But I can tell that Hyperguy is drooling over the Love Fetish poster.  This is the only one that I'll want something back for giving it up.
Software, lots of demos and audio-only discs. I don't recognize any of them.

So, who has the greater collection?

Nice!  Where were you able to get that from?  I thought it was sold primarily outside of Japan (by Hobibox Europe), so it's probably hard to come by.

Oh, and I have Typing VIPER on the way, too.

I got it from the Japan auctions site,
yeah I was surprised it was available from japan also,
Very expensive though, cost me over $200 just to get it. It was quite the bidding war.
but it was fun, these bidding wars can give one quite a rush.

Just received some new additions also, the Viper Digital Illustrations R G and B, and the Viper F40 novel.

New stuff.  This makes 76 unique Sogna- & VIPER-related items for me.

http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/new20090608_large.jpg
VIPER Collection Photos

VIPER-CTR (Windows)
Miyabi (Hime Club)
Sontoku (Maruarai)*
Typing VIPER
VIPER-GTS OVA (the uncensored Region 1 version)
PIPER GTS (Studio Huan)
V-MAX (J's Style)

* This is actually the second copy of Sontoku I've got my hands on.  It was cheap and added almost nothing to the shipping cost, so this copy was purchased solely for resale states-side.  PM me if you're interested in purchasing this fine RSR doujin.  It's practially flawless, some minor dents in the white cover, barely noticable except in the right light and at the right angle.  If it wasn't pure white you probably couldn't even tell they were there.  My other copy has the same imperfections so I'd qualify this as "in as good of condition as possible."

Gokuraku VIPER Lanjerie Violet
Oversized Asuka Mouse pad
Oversized GTB Mouse Pad (says Not for Sale, but I wonder what this was packaged with to make it so... Any ideas, 黒い灯影?)
VIPER Anniversary Coffee Mug (the one where Asuk and Miki are giving the peace sign) The box has some cute art on it
1995 Calendar (I had no idea how tiny it is!)
Dual-sided M1/Guynarock deskmat.
Guruguru Sentou by NARUHO Dou
Kimutaka 3 by Takahiro Kimura - all the sketches and character designs of one of my favorite works of his, ON AIR
Megablade, illustrated by Takahiro Kimura (I was a fan of his before VIPER, and being a fan led me to V16, which led me to becoming a VIPER fan)

Just some stuff I received, a while ago.

http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/6381/viperjuly2009.jpg
VIPER Collection Photos

-Both versions of Viper V16 for PC98, one is 3.5' disk, the other is 5' disk.
-Viper R, G, B
-Viper Limited
-Viper RSR boxset - Unopened, Factory wrapped!
-Viper RSR demodisk
-Viper F40 novel
And a whole bunch of demo disks on the side, of various hentai games.

As for your GTB mousepad, probably a second-hand store, or something, I've received items that looked like they were wrapped, like new almost.
but you could tell they were used, i.e. crack in the case, obi missing..etc

Ah! that's where that VIPER Lanjerie Violet went... hah. from Yahoo Japan Auctions, eh?
Well you gotta let me know when there's another Violet version floating around on the Japan auctions.

Awesome stuff. Would love to have the PC98 V16s. I can tell we may compete over those PC98 copies of GTS and V10 and the X68000 copy of V6 thats on there now.  We may need to come to some agreement so we don't bid against other and keep our costs low.  Personally I'd like the X68k V6 Turbo the most of those three, so if you're wild about obtaining the original V10 to go with your RS copy then maybe we can agree to step aside for each other? (And don't you already have a PC98 GTS, anyway?)

As always, Sogna Digital Museum can use some information from your collection:
* The JAN codes, number of diskettes, and any additional items beyond manual, registration card and diskettes in each V16 version
* Confirmation on F40 Novel Edition info.  Pretty sure I have ISBN, price, and page count right, but I definately need a check on the paper size.  Looks like same size as other novels so I should have it right.
* Definately need an ISO of that RSR demo disk.  (MDS or CCD formats preferred since they don't lose subchannel data but I'll take any other format.) Willing to trade a disc image of Paradice, F50, GTB, or GT1 demos for it. (Any other demos you have? Not counting the ones on the Typing CD...)

And dude, you've gotta do something about your list at the now defunct http://sogna.biz/ViperCollection.html so I can check what you have access to both for information gathering and to notify you when i see things I have that you don't.

Yeah, I'll try to do something with my list, so both you and I know what I have.
and I agree with your deplomatic solution of not competing with one another, keeps prices down.

AS for the other things. I'll get back to you soon...

I tell ya, days that new VIPER stuff comes in from Japan are better than Christmas.

VIPER Collection Photos

What do we have here:
  • PC98 5" diskette versions of GTS and V10 (V10 is missing manual though, very sad)
  • PC98 CD version of CTR
  • the original, first edition GTS Drama CD book with illustration and comic booklet
  • GTS Limited Edition DVD
  • Evolution 2 and 4
  • RSR Demo CD (coming soon to SDM)
  • and in the upper right, the new crown jewel of my collection: the Classic Collection volume 1 box set, complete with all twelve classic collection postcards and all seven box set telecas. (And well worth the $184.11 it cost me.)

http://www.sognadigitalmuseum.com/gallery/collections/jg/classic_collection_box_vol1_large.jpg
VIPER Collection Photos

This makes my previous version of V8 Classic Collection expendable and it will soon go on Sogna Digital Museum's For Sale page. I also got cheap, but complete second copies of VIPER-M3 3.2 and VIPER Digital Illustrations 1 in today's set, so they'll be going on sale, too. If any of you are interested in these you can private message me now before they get listed on SDM.

As an aside, I must confess that I had expected telecas to be a little more sturdy. These are my first and they are surprisingly flexible, much thinner and flimsier than a credit card. (About as thick as a sheet of 20lb paper, but made of plastic so it doesn't tear as easily.)

Neato.  I don't quite understand why Cells were used for Viper.  Wasn't everything done digitally?

These cells were used for promotional reasons... like in magazines, books..etc
The games themselves were done in digitally,
if they used the materials from the game then it would appear pixellated on paper.

The games themselves were done in digitally,
if they used the materials from the game then it would appear pixellated on paper.

The games were done partially by hand. An ink or pencil drawing is developed, which is input to a computer by either a primitive scanner or plotter, producing a low color (probably just 2) image.  The colors are then added digitally, usually in great big fill patterns.

It would take much, much too long to develop a game entirely digitally.  This method is faster, produces better quality, and still doesn't show signs of pixelation unless it was intended to create the impression of more color depth.  Sogna didin't pixelate becuase it would greatly increase the size of thier ANM files, but most other companies did.
