Realistic Viper characters
« on: September 03, 2022, 02:25:31 pm »
Hello,

I tried here to portray the girls of the game Viper CTR in a realistic manner.

This would be like a set of characters for a visual novel game. But to be honest, I'm not really motivated for this kind of project.

You will judge if it is well done !

Interesting. If Sogna were still in business perhaps a more realistic art style like this is something they'd have given a try at some point the last 20 years. They used many different artists and employed a few different styles in the last several years to mix things up. New artforms like realistic, 3D, or cel-shading seems like stuff they'd experiment with.

Looks pretty spot on. What's your methodology? It's kind of hard to tell with the low fidelity effect, which actually enhances the realism in its way. Are those photo edits? 3D models? Drawings with clever filters?

I use several methods at the same time. In particular photo manipulation, drawing and digital painting. Sometimes 3D.

Sogna's drawings, and animes in general, are quite schematic, allowing the viewer to fill in some parts of the picture with his imagination.

However, to be realistic, a drawing must not allow too much schematism. So a choice is made by the artist to fill in the schematic parts. And this choice isn't always appreciated, because it may not correspond to what the viewer had imagined.

That's awesome.
I would pay for you to do the same to Viper RSR characters..

New experimentation!

I tried to get a retro game look. I changed Miki's facial features too.

I notice that the colors are a bit duller on web browsers.

For the RSR characters, I'll think about it.

Miki's hair looks better in this one, but the color tone seems all wrong. Northern Lights is a colorful entry in the VIPER series with bright colors. This washed-out grayish look is more akin to Rear Under or Komachikawa Detective Agency's palettes.

Thats better. But what I mean is overly bright. Her jacket should match Michael Jackson Thriller, and background scenery should be among the brightest summer day you've even seen.

Dig the late early 2000s visual novel aesthetic of these. Reminds me of the game, Again, on the NDS by Cing.

Yes, that's closer to what I had in mind color-wise.
